The Money Pit??

I've never done this before, but I suppose our move to Boise and the remodle of our home is a good place to start.

We decided that Clayton wanted to go back to school a couple of years ago, but everything finally fell into place for this fall. So there was the mad scramble to fix the remaining "to-do" items on the house we built, sell it and find something new. By the time that list was finished it was getting down to the wire, but we found terrific realators and it was settled.

The choices we had to pick from here in Boise weren't really that great, so we chose a house fairly close to school, with a big back yard. It definatly needed fixing! We're making steady progress and I'm so proud of Clayton managing school and working on our place. He's terrific!

We tackled the nasty floors first (the dump guy who helped Clayton unload the old carpet was even grossed out...the dump guy! yeah, it was pretty bad!) put new carpet in the bedrooms, and hardwood bamboo down the hallway and the living room/dining area, then carpet in the downstairs (let me clarify, down a stair but it's eaiser to say "downstairs", it is DOWN anyway) and tile in the back entry and office.

Then we had to do something about the ancient wisteria that's growing all along the front of the house and the side of the house, you had to duck to get to the front door. Not so good when you're as tall as Clayton and I are. So Clayton built a trellis that looks great! Let me tell you, NEVER let something grow for 30 years without a trellis! Yikes what a pain! But Muscles McGee took care of it and Hurray! No more ducking!

We had someone put in more insulation in the ceiling and the crawlspace and we're still looking into someone to insulate the ductwork because aparently they don't do that here (at least not in the 70's).

In the mean time we've put in a couple of new vinyl windows and you can tell a huge difference! Sitting at the table in the morning and evening is pretty chilly (we haven't done that window yet!) But it's just fine in the living room and the family room (where we do have the new windows, yeah!)

The Kitchen as it was, was really hard to work in, Here's the before pictures I'll get the done picture up in a few weeks, hopefully! Now we're working on new cabinents/counters in the kitchen. We tore out the old ones on one side Saturday and Clayton is now hooking up the sink. It's been interesting, but at least we have the bathroom sink!

So that's the house updates so far, There's still more to come, and here's to hopeing it doesn't turn into the money pit!
I'll add some new pictures later
